oh my. i havent updated this in ages and i dont have a lot of time now so i will be semi brief. well, my train ride to Montana went very well. i was able to get a good amount of sleep. i had some very interesting, and frustrating, conversations with this baptist guy who thought my pastor should be repremanded for allowing our church to have a female pastor and that all the women in the church should basically shutup because they dont understand the ways of God like men do. i was like, woah there chief... and later, this other guy that said some of the bible is true but most of it is false yet he says he has a personal relationship with God but doesnt believe that Jesus is the only way and that we shouldnt ask for thing in prayer. whew, try and make some sense out of that one. he wouldnt listen to anything i was trying to explain to him because the scriptures i showed him were "wrong" and i am just a naive kid that will see his side when i get older. heh he really was something. but, he was still a nice guy.
anyways, Tom and Debs house (in no particular order)- i arrived in shelby at around noon on the 25th and had lunch with Deb. we then picked up the kids and went home. i got to meet the rest of the foster kids, and then Tom came home and we had dinner. then we went perch fishing and i saw the most amazing sunset of my life but i didnt have my camera for SOME reason, GAH! the next morning deb, her father and i went hunting but we didnt see anything. it was a beautiful river bottom though. heh, believe it or not it looked like something out of an old west movie. we heard coyotes, pheasants, and owls. over the next few days we hunted a lot and i saw my first mule deer, and pronghorn. we went to the US Canada border and one of debs friends took us to this remote field where there was a post that said US/Canada and i got to step across into canada. tom took me into great falls and i got a nice pair of hunting boots and some shirts at goodwill. he also got my a gyro which was really good. deb took me to lincoln, MT to see her nephew and to get to see the rockies. on the way there we spotted a moose and a golden eagle. the mountains were amazing and drew (her nephew) took me up into the mountains on his 4 wheeler. we then went to eat lunch at the "pit stop" and drew told me that the unibomber, ted kaczynski, lived in their town for a long time and even sent some of his "packages" from his place there in lincoln. i found out that he was arrested on my 7th birthday! weird. we were going to see where he lived but deb was pressed for time so we didnt. i got to meet with one of my dads good friends jay grub and he took me out to eat and showed me where my dad lived and some of the stuff they did. but he wouldnt give me any of the dirt. he said "nope, im still loyal" hah! so, dad, your secrets are still safe. thursday were going down to tom and debs sons house to go elk hunting so im sure ill have stories about that later.
