hey peeps.
havent done this in agesssssss so this might be a biggish one.
um in vrindavan obviously. its another hare krshna complex with a huge temple and lotsa devotees and all, the first three nights here we stayed in the complex, we've been eating at the MVT (mayapur-vrindavan trust) where all the white people eat and it has the most amazing food haha you can actually drink the water they bring you and everything! its a bit expensive conpared to indian places but still we eat for like $3 a meal! and they have pizza, chips, lasange, salads, potato, burgers etc! all veggie of course! so im getting fat! hahaha our eating habits are so awful, espcially since all food places are closed between 3-6 so we pig out when we can!
We've also been going to low baazar a bit, its about a 10 minute rickshaw ride, a very bumpy one might i add, and its where all the good shops are, so i bought a skirt and some scarfs etc, i love the shopping here you can look yourself or sit on the padded floor and tell them what you want and they wil bring it out to you! other than that we've just been going to temple and hanging with some people we met here. After the three nights we spent in the complex we moved to somewhere cheaper just down the road, which had a tv! not a good move for us coz then we never want to leave haha we were there for a couple nights then we decided -totally last minute- that we wanted to go to Rishikesh for a few nights, Rishikesh is a 8 hour north town on th foot of the himalyas, its supposedly the 'yoga capita of the world' and theres heaps of westerners and devotees. So on the 9th we got up at 4am (urrrggggghHH) and got in car with some guy we met at the travel agent and offered us a free lift to delhi (lol dw not as dodgy as it sounds) so he gave us a lift to delhi and we had to take a rickshaw to the bus stop. here is where the worst day EVER began. on our way police pulled us over and began checking the rickshaw drivers papers, he checked out but it took like 30 minutes and we had a bus to catch! so we ended up getting to the bus stop like 15minutes before our bus departed and we had no idea where it left from! so panic ensued as we ran around asking EVERYONE but know one spoke very good english and know one knew where the bus was leaving from. we found out after we had missed it that the ticket meant we could get on ANY deluxe bus leaving whilst we were searching for a specific name we saw on the ticket. FAIL. we ended up getting on one an hour after we were supposed to after much hassle, we were literally on the verge of pitching a fit and coming home, and after being hassled by a tonne of indian men that thought we were stupid and tryed to get more money of us, we managed to get ona bus but then we had to share a sleeper with a old fat man hahaha. a sleeper is literally a little bunk above the seats on a bus the max is supposed to be two people so it was a tad cozy hahaha.
then on the way we got pulled over by police AGAIN. seriously. after an hou and a half and a bus change we were finally on our way. luckily a nice english speaking indian guy was going to the same place so he told us which stop to get of at an shared a rickshaw with us to the right place, we literally jumped in the first hotel we found which was 1500 ruppes a night and we ended up paying 800 because the lady was so god damn nice!! and it was huge too with tv but only s*** channels so we were watching bbc entertainment :) hehe
whilst we were there we went to a really nice german bakery, went shopping (i got a tibetan singing bowl lol dont know why..) had dinner at the awesomist beach huts, although after the first dinner and the most amazing burrito of my life - iwas up ALL morning being disgustingly sick :( which sucked coz we had big plans, so on a empty stomach and super dehyrated we hired a scooty (janavi the expert driver of course) and went in search of waterfalls... we found a nice on but there was a creepy indian in it so we went looking for another. we had to abandon the scooty and walk a 20 minute walk, except we walked past it and ended up finding heaps of little ones and only on the way back did we find the big one, which after climbling the DODGIEST tracks literally up walls and over rocks- we jumped straight in! it was so beautiful and cold! but the water was so pure we couldnt resist. then we got super lost on the way back and whilst we were contemplating whether we would survive a night out in the himalayas - we found a man meditating and we offered to lead us back to the road :) his name was matt and he was super nice. then we had dinner at another beautiful beach hut right on the ganga, i was kinda sad i didnt get to go white water rafting but im determined to come back and go again!
so i was pretty exhausted when i got home.. in time to continue being sick. whooooo. my body hates me. then we got up at 4am again to get a taxi to the train station. luckily i had those aweomse pills that stop you vomiting everywhere because tjhe train toilets ARE NASTY. and we got the cheap class coz were so poor haha so we were in the sleeper section which is tiny plastic beds like 50cm wide. and me and janavi shared one! coz ours werent next to each other and there were tonnes of creepy indians. we spooned for like 2hours and i was pretty much hanging off the edge- much to the amusement of the locals let me tell you! but it was darn cold! anyway after 10 HOURS!!!! we finally got back in vrindavan where we settled in our 10TH place to sleep...no tv here coz its an ashram but alot of crazy monkeys. i cant even tell you how much i hate monkeys now. we left the window open coz its barred and i wnated to dry my undies... :) and they squeezed it and stole our cookies!!! they left a crumb trail and all! then this morning it was clawing at the window trying to break in!! so horrifying... it was looking at me with evil eyes!! and there was some kind of monkey party happening in the hallway coz they were banging and screaming and a few times they hit our door.. it was HORRIBLE!!
so we went to see a few more temples last night, so beautiful as usual, and today might be our last day, we really need to start organising more in advance, were trying to determine whether to stay a night in delhi or not and our room is only avaliable till the 16th and our plane leaves 17th soooo dilemma.
anyway ill fill u in im home in a week anyway :) yayyyyyy
love everyone and miss everyone SO FRICKEN MUCH
