So we arrived in Brisbane after another delightful coach ride :)
We did nothing really once we got here as it was mid afternoon and we were knackered so we did our sandy laundry that had accumulated on Fraser island, and had a bit of a play on email, before heading out down to the lads hostel (which is more near town than ours) for dinner, as we didnt really know our bearings yet it took us 40minutes to walk to, never mind we'd definately worked up an appetite by the time we got there. We then had dinner and a few drinks and then Vic and i decided to head back to the hostel as we were fading fast and needed sleep!
On Sunday we met the lads at 11am as i had enquired about an Aussie rules match while we were here and there was 1 being played in Brisbane, and the lads were up for coming too, so Vic,I and the guys walked into town for something to eat then jumped on the free bus service to the 'Gabba' stadium (which is actually the cricket ground as well as the Aussie rules pitch) We got tickets which were really good although in the sun but only a few rows from the front and just offside to the goal so brilliant! The game was against Carlton (no idea where that is) and Brisbane wiped the floor with them, we were getting really into by the end - once we'd figured out the rules. After the match we went for a few pints - and a SUNDAY ROAST! mmm, then Vic and i nipped home to get changed and we then headed back out to meet everyone and we eneded up going to a couple of bars in 'the valley' and then onto another bar/club place that happened to only be a 5 min walk from our hostel - great! Whilst we were in the last place i met a guy who i thought looked just like Brandan Cole (from strictly come dancing - see what you think when i can eventually put the pics up.
Yesterday we were very hungover so all our plans of going to Australia zoo went out the window and we ended up having a big lie in and then wandering round the shops and basically having a chilled out day before cooking ourselves a spag bol back at the hostel.
Today we did actually make it to the Zoo, we got the train at 8am from Brisbane to Beerwah which is where the zoo actually is, on the transfre bus from the station to the zoo we found out today was party day in the zoo as it was Bindi's Birthday, so as well as seeing all the animals today we also caught sight of Bindi and Terri (Irwin). We got to stroke Koalas and Kangeroos - the koalas are so very cute! Vic and I also loved the Wobats they're sweet little things. We've now just got back from the zoo and we're going to try and put piccies up but once again these computers aren't having any of it.
We've booked our accom and transport to Sydney now so we're off there tomorrow and looking forward to it, Ive already had a text from the Irish girls who got there yesterday saying its amazing so cant wait. We've also been looking into getting a campervan for New Zealand as i think that'll be best for us so thats very exciting too!
Hope everyones OK, and yes Em it is far colder here than i imagined it would be - not really looking forward to the coldness in NZ as its reported as -8 there at night brrrr!! But hopefully the snow will be good and we can get a day on the slopes sorted :)
