Nee how! I have no idea of spelling but that means hello in Chinese anyway! This is our last day in Yangshuo. Its very beasutiful here, more touristy but I still quite like it! So we arrived after 23 hour door to door journey! It actually went quite quick! The night in Yichang, we amnaged to find a pool hall so that killed a bit of time, and we got an english film channel on the tele so watched the soloist, so in the end Yichang wasnt that bad! Before we left in the morning we got McDonalds breakfast and went on a 5 hour bus ride, but it was quite early so slept a bit, until we were all nearly in a crash, but I'm surprised we've made it this far without any accidents! No one waits, if they want to change lanes they just go for it and hope for the best! But it was the roads that were rubbish, loads of potholes like you wouldnt believe and more of a dirt track than a road. Except it was quite busy too, so our driver kept thinking it was a great idea to try overtake.. it was not a good idea and resulted in a mad swerve out of the way. But we survived and made it to the train station, where we had a couple of hours to get food, before getting the ridiculously long train journey, which was fairly uneventful, just some mad Chinese woman kept staring and watching us play cards. But she was harmless enough just its a bit weird being watched! We had to get off the train at 5.30.. I was very careful this time to make sure I didnt lose anything (else), I'm sure my bag is getting easier to carry, and I hope its because I'm getting used to it and not because I'm losing so much stuff! But at least I still have my passport! Yeah, but because we were up so early, when we arrived at Yangshuo, everywhere was sitll closed... except the 24hour McDonalds with the nicest view that just doesnt go with McDonalds at all. So I was all ready for my hash browns again when the hotel opened early and do all sorts of western food! Best breakfast ever! So the morning was pretty much spent catching up on sleep, and then in the afternoon we went bamboo rafting down the Li river. Lots of people though, it was really busy and our guide didnt come, she just got us on the bus, so I'm surprised we all made it back! The rafts were not the safest things in the world. Most of them were sinking and at one point I was convinced ours was actually going under. But once I got past the non sinking of the raft, it was really relaxing and I got some really nice pics! Although my shoes are still soaked through after the mini waterfall, rapid type thing that was bigger than anticipated but it was still a good afternoon! Also randomly where we got off the rafts there was a man with 2 monkeys, a camel and a horse, we're not really sure what he was doing there but we think he was selling photos with the animals??
Then yesterday was the bike ride day! It was actually really good and I quite enjoyed it but I'm wrecked today! The bikes were not good quality and because 2 people got flat tyres separately it took us quite a bit longer than it was meant to. But again some beautiful scenery and the people here are a lot friendlier than they have been in other parts of China. Although for a while we were riding on the roads and there was still a good few near death experiences to be had! We had lunch on the bike tour at this local farmers house, some of the others werent fussed, but I really enjoyed it. Then last night was the last group meal for Dan's birthday and we bought him a Chairman Mao watch that waves and all signed a postcard. Cindy had managed to arrange a cake too, so it was quite a nice evening before some of us went to a mad chinese gay bar with pole dancing and lots of older chinese men.. that was an experience! But I'm off to pack my backpack.... again! We have the last overnight train tonight before crossing the border to Hong Kong tomorrow morning! I think by the end of these few months I'll be driven mad by repacking that bag!! It's already beginning to drive me insane!
Hope youre all well, missing everyone!!
