hello you cheeky scamps, I hope youre all well!
Just a wee quick blog about Udaipur. Fact fans: It is where Octop**** the James Bond film was filmed. Some useless knowledge for you there.
Anyway, there is an old palace (now hotel) built into the middle of the lake so its rather gorgeous.. in order to get to your room at night you have to get a boat across! We, however were on our usual budget and instead of the $150 a night (MINIMUM!!) to stay there, we got a stunning room, in an old havelli that cost 1 pound 50 each a night! Really amazing wee room :). ANYWAY, we did pretty much nothing for the full week we were in Udaipur because Colshy had to sort Uni things out so we spent about 4 hours a day inside internet cafes (they were lovely, by the way)!
We visited a different palace called the city palace (because its built on dry land!) which was really lovely. It's the start of wedding season here just now and they were setting it all up for a massive wedding party compete with DJ! The first 'proper' music we've heard for 2 months! Anyway, there was a wedding every day on our wee street and they had a big procession with singers and people playing massive horn things and the grooms on their white horses and drums and all the fun of the fair. Delightful fun. Oh, and crazy fireworks that they set off in the middle of busy streets that people have to jump out of the way to avoid!
Anyway, it was the colshmeisters 24th birthday while we were there, oooh! Getting old sunshine! We had a lovely day.. ofcourse we had to grace an internet cafe with our presence.. and then we went to visit the palace, and then we got all dolled up and went to this shockingly beautiful restaurant on the top of a hotel, that had a rooftop swimming pool and live indian musicians, really amazing. The food was just RIDICULOUS! Yum yum yum, what a lovely night :). Happy birthday!
From Udaipur, we got another overnight DEATH bus to Jaisalmer, where we currently are. The bus was the low point of the trip for Colshy so far, but I think the fear had a strange sedating effect on me because I just found it really funny.
Anyway, lots of love, sorry this blogs a bit rushed and crap!
