Today I was the most scared I have ever been. I have this fear of drowning and for years have chickened out of diving, snorkeling i can just bear, but today I went diving on the Great Barrier Reef and actually got all the way to the bottom of the sea (only about 10 meters down but still, I was scared). Getting down was the hardest part, I've never breathed so fast in all my life and then we had to some practice things to make sure if the valve fell out of our mouths we could clear the water out and put it back in and how to get water out of our goggles all the way down there! That scared me even more but after I'd practiced it I was a bit calmer. The whole time we were down there though I kept looking up making sure I'd have enough time to get back up if the air ran out, but apart from the surface I saw some amazing things. The colours down there were so bright and so were the fish. And just as I was getting used to idea of being so far under the water a bright red slimy sea cucumber was thrown at me! Yuk. Later on we went snorkeling as well, but it wasn't a very good day so the sea was very choppy and it made it hard to swim around but then on the other side of the boat we spotted three Turtles and they were coming right up to us. Hayley tried to feed one but it bit her finger! Going back to the hostel now for a shower and dinner then I'm sure we'll be in bed by 9! And the next time I write I think I will be back in Sydney getting a job!
