A great thunder and lightening storm during the night...of course it would rain the one day we would like it bright and sunny. John was going to come for the lunch part of the day and spend the hours before sketching, but the rain changed his mind. So off Anne and I went on the 7:35 (not crowded) bus. Got into Amalfi at 8 where we changed buses for Ravello. The ride up to Ravello is windy like the Amalfi Coast road but narrow and uphill!!!
We found our way to Mamma Agata's where we met the other guests...12 of us ready for a great experience. The view from her home is just a killer with terraced gardens below. They grow all their own veggies, etc. at the property...amazing! The weather cooperated and while we were there with just a little shower now and then and sun!
We started with a slice of lemon cake and a cappuccino...just the beginning. It would be difficult to tell you just how great this day was for us. Mamma demonstrated the preparation a lot of dishes (and of course we sampled along the way). I'll just say it will probably be the highlight of the trip. We ate, ate, ate...and just when you thought you couldn't eat another thing, more came! We ended with more lemon cake and their own limoncello. Check out her website to get a better idea of what we experienced...www.mammaagata.com.
The day ended all too quickly and then it was back on the bus to Praiano. A great day!
