how suction cups are used: first the cup is put on using a hand pump attached at the top. At this point the assistant leaves them on for less than a minute. It leaves a red ring for a guide. A guide for what? More needles of course! They stab the area repeatedly with a needle, then reattach the cup. As the blood fills the cup for about 15 minutes it's nice to relax at this time.
