Yesterday was EmmaÂ's birthday...as a super special treat we decided to check into a hotel.  There is only one 5 star hotel in La Paz, Hotel Europa and we knew it was way out of our price range.  We tried all the mid range hotels and they were really pricey so went to the Europa to make us even more miserable.  Well the guy on reception must have felt sorry for the 2 weary travellers before him... for absolute peanuts we have just spent the night in ...

Today we survived Death Road...This was one of the reasons we came to Bolivia (saw someone wearing an Í survived Death Road'T shirt in Peru)  We left La Paz  and went further up into the mountains to 4780mtrs (v. Cold).  Got geared up, strapped little Tel to the handlebars, drank a very alcoholic  toast to Paccha Mamma (mother Earth) and set off...hurtled down the highway overtaking large lorries on hairpin bends and generally feeling scared...stop...

Arrived in la Paz yesterday. What a difference the city is massive, Bolivias capital in everything but name La Paz is a vibrant place.  In the Plaza San Frasisco There are demonstartions going on constantly, people camping out there and riot police surrounding the peaceful protests (the fire crackers make you jump though).  You can always hear a game of football being played somewhere close, and the traffice seems to be at permanent gridlock.  Around ...

We have crossed the border (a chain across the road) into Bolivia.  We have to pass through immigration and get permission to leave Peru and then enter Bolivia all quite quick and painless.  First stop Copacabana. We finaly left Cusco (the Navel of the Inca world (most of the time we were in the Irish pub!!!)  and set off on a traditional Peruvian bus journey, not enough seats, stops at every town and a 1 inch gap around the door! Cheap and effective and always an experience.  Arrived tiered and grumpy and had to try 2 hostels before finding one with genuine hot water!  We are on Lake Titicaca the highest and I think the biggest lake in the world (I may of offende...
