A short trip to Lake Argyle where the Ord River Dam holds back umpteen Sydney harbours of water. It's an amazing inland ocean which would take 4 years to empty - we figured that would not be good for Kununurra!

A morning visit to the Mirima (Hidden Valley) National Park near Kununurra. Often described as the mini Bungle Bungles, we enjoyed some walks and views of town from the lookout.

The morning market in Kunururra didn't take us long to check out so we went to the "swimming beach" in Lake Kununurra near the diversion dam wall. Despite reports it was generally croc free we decided the pool at the caravan park was a better option. While the lake looked a good spot for kayaking they also stayed dry - just in case.

Yes a service for the car and a morning in town browsing at diamonds and having a coffee. After lunch we visited the historic Ivanoe Crossing on the Ord River. Sadly it's no longer a crossing (closed to vehicles) and we weren't keen to walk across! We then visited the sandalwood plantations north of town which have expanded greatly in the past decade as part of the next stage of the Ord River Irrigation Scheme.

We head into Kununurra to restock and prepare for the crossing of the NT border. Mum and Dad returned to the bus stop (yes Dad's a real romantic!) where they were engaged in 2001.
