Palaces and castles were not too comfortable in 1308. True, they were spacious, but they had few other amenities. The audio tour and on-site films told of each Pope redoing the palace to his own taste. It was funny that each one undid the improvements of the preceding pope and added something new to the palace. It reminded me of my sister in law who is always refining her habitat.
