Thursday was spent shopping, shopping, shopping. The deals were much better here with the better exchange rate. The stores were small and the people very friendly. Heather showed us all of the great places to shop on Nassau and Grafton Streets. Irish wools, irish lace, irish whiskey - all were wonderful. After shopping we had lunch at a great cafe. It was called the Lemmon Co. and served crepes fixed with any ingredients you could imagine. It had started to rain so we had to eat inside. It was so chilly that they had heat lamps installed outside so you could eat outside if the weather cooperated.
After lunch we visited Trinity College and went through the Book of Kells exhibit. It was awe inspiring. The Long Hall in the Library caused both of our jaws to drop. I couldn't imagine I was actually there. Such history. No pictures allowed but I picked up some literature.
There were dormitories at Trinity College without modern conveniences (electric, plumbing, water, etc.) and the students agreed to stay there just to be able to attend this college. By the way, there is no cost to attend college in Scotland and Ireland but your admittance is based on grades and a similar test to the SAT here. England still charges to attend college -- many differences in the UK.
There were signs posted everywhere that pick pockets were working the college and Grafton Street areas. We became very alert to our surroundings.
