So yesterday we had yet another fun filled packed out crazy day.
Our first trip was to the Pike Place Market famous for throwing fish around... we found some good foods, and cheap flowers... after this Tim and Yuka dropped us of so we could go and enjoy a game of baseball at Safeco Stadium with the Seattle Mariners Vs Oakland Athletics. First pitch of the day was a home-run to Athletics... turns out Mariners aren't having such a good season, but Athletics ended up winning only 2:1.
Afterwards, we caught back up with Tim and Yuka and then we travelled to Tacoma where we went around a park - looking for a bush walk but getting lost and other general tom-foolery. We then meet Theresa (from Jane's exchange in Orofino) and Mujib for dinner. Then had a lovely walk along the water front with lots of gossip and catching up.
Today we slept in a little to 9:30 in the morning, first sorta sleepin of the whole trip so far. We booked in the "Ride the Ducks" that Tim and Yuka had so generously given us as an engagement present. We walked out the door around 10:45 and using our awesome and astonishing navigating skills caught a bus to Washington State University. We then got a little lost and found our connecting bus stop just in time to see the bus leave!! 1/2 hour wait and a coffee stop later got onto our connecting bus dropping us off in Seattle right outside the duck place one hour early. After a short walk around the space needle in Seattle deciding on what we were going to do after the duck tour. The duck tour was cool, the "duck" we were in was a ex WWII amphibious vehicle that used to take troops and supplies up to land. The tour guide either gets a lot of satisfaction from his work or is crazy! By the end of the tour I felt like I belonged in an institution! It was raucous to say the least! Lots of clapping and singing along - fun and way over the top! After our tour we visited the EMP Museum which is a music and movie pop culture museum, where we saw flash backs from Jimmy Hendrix & Nirvana. We also visited the Avatar exhibition and the Sci Fi section. They had heaps of information about the making of Avatar the movie - how they designed the plants, characters, score - really interesting stuff. Downstairs had heaps of sci-fi memorabilia - a darlek, captain Spock's command chair, Neo's trench coat from the Matrix - heaps of models and costumes and paraphenalia The Bus back was an adventure in itself, we saw and missed every bus and connection we needed to get back home.... but eventually made it 2 hours later! After a very long day we then had a fantastic BBQ with Tim and Yuka's friends, family, and next-door neighbours. It truly has been a fun and exhausting last two days :)
