THE MOUNTAIN WARRIORS
Hello from Ko Panghan! Lets start from the beginning. Yesterday we arrived after a 12 hour train ride and a hour boat. The train was interesting to say the least. We thought seeing as it was a first class carriage (only cost us about 2 quid more) that it would be an easy relaxed journey.. As soon as we got into out cabin which wasnt too bad we set up the beds and got ourselves sorted. About 10 minutes in the train staff came down the corridor, there were two of them and they were absolutely WASTED. They gave us some beers and said that we could pay for them later. So we had a few beers with them and it was all good. We werent even sure they were going to charge us because they werent counting how many everyone was having. Anyway we eventually managed to get them out of the cabin when dinner came which was foul by the way. About 30 mins later we get a knock on the door and its one of the guys named beebo trying to charge us for about 20 beers! you can imagine us basically just going HAHA yeah right mate PISS OFF! so we just ignored them for a while but they are pretty persistant when it comes to trying to take your damn money. I eventually had enough of it and went into the corridor and payed only for what we had. He then short changed me by about 80 percent so I took my money back off him. The Thais seem to respond well to the larger westerners if you raise your voice and shake your finger violently at them when they are not behaving. So we eventually got them to leave after about 2 hours of hassle. They didnt show up again I think their boss threw them onto the tracks after he saw we werent happy! goood. Anyway Im sure that was the first of many scams we are going to have to deal with! I have put a photo in the album of those guys. Alex thinks its great that the guy is smiling so much because he though he was getting his beer free! haha. This island is really cool its such a change from bangkok. Its covered in huge palms and white sandy beaches and the sea is really warm. We have a bungalow right by a beach, its very basic but clean and nice, just 2 beds a fan and an outside bathroom. I will take some pics before I leave. We have got the hammocks up in the porch as well so its going to be a lazy couple of days as its too hot to stay out long in the sun. Already pretty tanned! The locals seem pretty friendly although thats probably just because they think we are goin to buy something from them. Theres a big beach party on tonight called the black moon party that we are going to check out. Not entirely sure how long we are staying around here but i think we will head to Kuala Lumpur next either on train or by flying which are both about the same price! If we fly it will be from neighbouring island Ko Samui. Im going to try and upload some photos now so check the album. seeya
