Auckland - Part deux:
Met up with Lala. Lovely to see a familar face! Went to get a new fin for our surf board as we already lost one trying to surf .... more difficult then it looks! Went to this workshop to buy Fin and this wicked dude called Paul ended up giving us a brand new free board, 2 set of fins and told us the best place to go surfing in Coromandel region! Top guy!
Drove down to Hot water Beach in Coromandel. Absolutely amazing beach. Basically, you dig a whole in the sand and lye in your own Thermal water pool that gets extremely hot so you have to mix it with sea water! Amazing and very theraphetic!!
After this, we drove down to Tauranga, where we got absolutely stupidly drunk, thanks to La ;-) and it piss down with rain so bad, our clothes and inside our van got socked! James and I even got refused into a bar cos the manager thought we jumped in the sea!!!
Next day wasn't very pretty after this malarkynever drinking again....driving down really winding roads and ending up in Smelly Rotorua....Not good on a hangover day!Rotorua is the home of thermal mud bath and polynesian bath as it is above volcanic grounds! Basically....stinks of sulfur...BAD! Polynesian bath was very relaxing though.
That evening, we went to Maori Village to experience their culture. We watched their Maori Dance and talk. Very scary dancing! Had a night walk in the forest and spotted Glow worms. There are like fairies....so pretty! Then ended up with a Hungis all you can eat buffet (Food cooked underground) James ended up have two dinners and two puddings! Was a well deserved and appreciated meal! Was like a roast but everything tasted smokey. GORGEOOOOOUS!
Next day, we went White Water Rafting which was brilliant! (see photos!) Went down a 7m Waterfall and didn't tip over! This crazy guy working on our raft kept picking on Lala and chucking her in the water! V. Funny! Not for La though poor girl ended up with a massive bruise on her leg! We were rushing so much after that, we were thursty for more adrenalin rush so we ended doing some Lugeing! Extreme fast fun! James LOOOOVED It!
Next Stop, Taupo - Central Plateau. We completed a 18.5km Walk in Tongariro National Park - Tongariro Crossing - one of NZ top 10 best walks! basically 3 active volcanoes. You can see that mountain in the Lord of the rings! It was extremally challenging to say the least. The highest we got, the worst the weather got and windier it got! As we reached the top, we literally nearly walked on our hands and knees as the wind was so strong and both sides of the path was a long drop down!!! The visibility was very bad as well which was a shame as there is 3 beautiful volcanic lakes on the top!
Well....this is it for now from our adventures....Lala has left us sadly to got to Wellington and Australia.
Our Next stop is New Plymouth where Mount Taranaki (Mountain used in the last Samourai instead of Mount Fuji!) and the Womad festival are! Will be a nice thing to do for my Birthday ! Going to be 25!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaahh! Hoping to do a Sky dive on my actual Birthday day though! BRING IT ON!
Hope everyone is good. Lots of love from Noemie and James xxxxxxxxx
PS: By the way...I haven't had a cigarette since we left England! Feeling fine and fit ;-) . No one smokes here in Pubs and other public places...Very pleasant.
