So we travelled from La Spezia to Nice today. It was a very beautiful drive. Our guides name was Mark and he was from the uk. The landscapes we saw today were some of the best we have seen inbetween bus stops, massive mountains with houses dotted on the top and in the valleys almost the whole way. On this trip we went through approximately 170 tunnels, some not even a whole bus length apart. We drove past Monacco which is the second smallest 'country' in the world. The smallest 'country' being the Vatican city. We arrived in Nice at Hotel Antares. They are a lot more organised here and we got into our room a lot quicker than we did in Italy. The room is small but very comfortable, the ensure design has a little to be desired, you have to step over the toilet to climb into the shower recess. Other than that though the shower was the best we have had. So for dinner the hotel was throwing a spaghetti party, you pay 2 euro for all the spaghetti wine and.... wait for it..... Popcorn you can eat. Yes, popcorn. Interesting combination. 2 euro!!!! The spaghetti was amazing!! The wine tasted worse than the price of it, but we didn't really expect much. They held dinner down in their maze of basement rooms usually used for computers and entertainment rooms, there were sooooo many people down there taking advantage of it. After dinner a few of the bus about guides took us for a walk to get gelati and a bit of a look around. The place we had gelati at had 99 flavours, the biggest place we had seen so far. I had white chocolate, caramel and pistachio. They even had cactus flavour there! A friend had it and we tried a bit, it just tasted like soap :s. We walked through a massive open air food court with restaurants and tables everywhere. They had a few seafood markets there and then seafood restaurants that had massive shared dishes that people were eating, with crays, bugs, crabs, prawns... Everything you could think of piled high... Our mouths were watering.
On the way back we took some more photos and got into bed about 12.
We are off to Barcelona tomorrow, it will be an 11 hour trip, the biggest one we have.
