Hey Jaks, Just catching up with all your gossip, it sounds like such an interesting experience, and I hope your having an awesome time ( apart from the spiders etc, how ghastly)
My veg curry is chilli (fresh) garlic and ginger all chopped fried with an onion with some cumin seeds, cinamon, chilli powder and stalks of corriander ( you pick the leaves off and add later) plus plently of seasoning. I add veg ( whatever you want like peppers courgette etc then add passata or chopped tomatoes plus some stock.Add a little sugar to balance out the tomatoes but not too much I add chick peas or lentils or potatoes then too. Let it boil away merrily for about half an hour etc you can add cardimon pods (about 3 or 4 too) when your adding the other stuff. Taste and check seasoning then add chopped corriander for a few minutes then serve with whatever ya fancy. Not the most exciting reciepe but its a start! Yoghurt is good with it if its a bit too spicy, you can add cocnut milk instead of stock or instead of the tomatoes if you want a creamy curry,
Things are fine here, the plants remain alive which is a miracle and fingers crossed for some good old sun this summer. I can offer know help with the cricket sorry , but girls aloud are doing very well.
Take Care, Alexis

Hi love all your news and photos, it's really good to hear from you. A belated Happy New Year to you, it sounds an amazing celebration.
I don't have a veg curry recipe, I just throw everything in a big pan, with water and curry powder, chilli and garam masala, and seasoning.Sorry!
Steve says that you werent affected by the sun, Kevin and Andrew are playing for them!
Keep your news coming.
Love Jacqui xxx

Thanks everso much for your lovely messages. It's great to know you are enjoying my blog and photos.
I am in need of information!
Firstly, does anyone have any vegetarian curry recipes they can send. There are all these lovely ingredients but I don't know what to do with them! I must also mention that my cooking facilities are a large camping gas stove and two pans.
Secondly, did I see Kevin Peterson and Andrew Flintoff playing in the Indian cricket league or am I getting too much sun?! If anyone has any information please post here!
Thanks, lots of love, Jacks xx

Hi great photos, we actually have had the most beautiful sunny few days here, in the early 20's no where near your temps though! It certainly has made everything spring to life and I was going to mention the lambs, Amy has beaten me to it, but they are so cute! Take care lots of love Jacqui x

Hello - just caught up with your blog about work and the photos - it looks like a lovely rehab centre - like something out of a holiday brochure...and your team look so friendly. It sounds like you have a proper menagerie starting at your house, or at least a reptile house! Hope the asthma settles down and you can keep riding your bicycle. The lambs in the Dales send their fondest, lots of love,Amyxx

Hurrah - no longer a lone voice on the message board! Ok now I'm officially jealous...sunsets to die for, just another drink before the sun goes down The Isle of Lewis did manage to show us a little sun before a cloud blew across it at a million miles an hour. We thought of you on our windswept beach. Digging the blog, Jacks, love Amyxxxxxx

Oooh those sunsets....thanks for sharing your photos, now I just want to go for a swim in the Indian Ocean. Ah well, I'll have to make do with Richmond pool. Or even the Gulf Stream, as Adrian and I are about to undertake a four day road trip to the Isle of Lewis and back. I'm not sure our sunset photos will be quite as awesome, but we will be staying on a white sandy beach, which we may or may not see, of course....Good luck on your trip to Kurenagala! Look forward to seeing some photos from there. xxAmes

I've just read your blog and it's great to hear how you are and some of the local colour - i get a real sense of the exhuberance and confusion your are experiencing in Colombo. I'm sure a drink with the other vollies will help!
Spring has shown its face today - 18C and bright sunshine. All the allotmenteers were out in force this morning, but Ade and I could only manage a couple of tasks before finding out how unfit we are. My cold frame salad is ready for its first picking - so I guess your old neighbours might be enjoying the fruits (or rather leaves) of your labour...
Hope your second week is as fun packed as the first
Lots of love and hugsxx

Hi Jacks - hope you had a good flight and are being well looked after. We've just been to see Slumdog Millionaire - woah, great movie. And your amaryllis flowered today - I reckon at about the time you landed in Columbo. And winter has returned - freezing sleet today...enjoy the sunshine and beaches, lots of love and hugs, Amyxxx
