Well I have arrived in Denver, Colorado and so far so good. Since my last blog in St Louis I have visited Jefferson City and Kansas City. Jefferson City is so far the wierdest place I have ever visited. I arrived at the Amtrak train station of which was deserted but thankfully had a pay phone and a card for a cab. I then arrived at my hotel which was furnished like a very bad old nursing home and the staff stared at me like I was a freak. The air con in the room was broken and the thought of sleeping in the bed made my stomach churn. Thankfully I have the trusty Pink blanket that Sian bought for me.
I decided that I would try and make the most of it and walk to the town and visit the Court House building which was beautiful and then stole through the High St, well I was amazed to say the least. There where various bars and a bank a pharmacy and a wedding shop of which where all closed apart from the pharmacy, I popped into the pharmacy to escape the blistering heat and was greeted by shelves of crisps, Beer, Setting Lotion and Old Brut products and various shades of blue eye shadow and that was it. My first thoughts where "Wow perfect recipe for a great night in” I headed back to my hotel to be greeted at the door by a Ranger in his Station Wagon yielding a gun. It was all rather freaky and a little disturbing.
Glad to get back on the Train the next morning after an evening of sleeping with one eye open and trying to digest the off salad that they served me in the restaurant I arrived in Kansas City. I was relieved to see civilization with smiling faces. I was feeling a lot happier now until I opened my hotel room door and was horrified at the smell, fly's, dirty bed sheets and a shower tray that looked like a black board. So out came the flip flops for the shower and the trusty pink blanket for the bed. I awoke the next morning with my hoody on and a flip flop in my hand to keep the flies off me. (The Joy's of travelling)
Anyway, showered and now in Denver I feel a bit better, my Hotel or should I say Motel (must of been typo on advert) liars, is a lot better. It looks like the set for my Name is Earl; however it is clean and modern. Im here for three nights and then im off to Vegas to stay in the 5* Planet Hollywood hotel & casino thanks to expedia's half price sale. Wahoo!! Can’t wait.
