Day 11
L.A. to Three Rivers
After a good stay at Marina Del Rey we set off through the Los Angeles Monday morning traffic.
Can't understand all the fuss a doddle (good old satnav).
Highway 405 and looking out at the road rushing under my wheels all the way to Bakersfield, and don't know why we bothered.
Dullest place in California and 105F.
Anyway, Walmart was nice and cool
Driving through the San Joaquin valley for what seemed like hours surrounded by fruit trees.
Finally arrived at Three Rivers and the whole area is awesome.
Good Mexican with good beer and can't wait for tomorrow.
Day 11
Sequoia National Park
Everyday on this trip just seems to get better.
Sequoia Nat Park was great. Massive trees and bears in the wild.
Some of the trees are over 2000 years old.
Vin and Chris climbed up Moro rock, over 400 steps to a quite stunning view over the park, and on the first few steps there was a bear in the bushes eating berries.
That was enough to persuade Kath and Rose to retreat to the car.
Anyway the bear stayed there so they got a really good look at it.
Later, near the General Sherman tree a ranger had to chase a bear away.
Back at Three Rivers we had a pizza the size of a truck tyre between us.
Cheapest meal yet and excellent.
Off to Yosemite tomorrow.
Bye for now.
