We've now been in Nha Trang 5 nights, it seems once you get comfortable here it's very hard to leave! This is down to the very relaxed atmosphere and the beach on our front door! We've been really lucky with the weather here...that is until we woke up this morning to torrential downpours. It is actually nice for it to be a bit cooler as it's been so hot the past week and as you've seen from the photos I got very burnt on one day! Jaan also burnt his back!
So what have we done in Nha Trang.....
- Eaten gorgeous food
- Sunbathed
- Drank
- Slept
:) This a proper holiday destination and we have taken full advantage of that!
We are staying at a hotel called "Nice Hotel"...which yes is nice! When we got off the bus at 6am from Hoi An a guy on a motorbike asked us if we had a hotel booked and to check out his hotel - Nice hotel. We told him that we already had a hotel in mind and that we would go there first. He gave us directions to the hotel we had in mind and then he walked with us the whole way pushing his bike! We tried to tell him that we were fine and we didn't need directions but he was persistent! When we got to the hotel we had in mind they told us the only room they had was a twin and was $14. We went back to the guy who had waited outside the hotel for us and told him, ok show us your hotel. His persistence paid off this time!! The hotel was actually fine and for a double room with en-suite, tv,fridge,air-con was $10 - bargain! We are on the 9th floor and there is a communal balcony which overlooks the beach which has an awesome view. The hotel offers free internet on some pcs in the reception area but they are sooooooo slow and we found a cheap internet cafe around the corner which charges 4000dong a hour which is about 13p! Lol it is so cheap here!!
We found an amazing restaurant called "Lantern" which we've now been to 4 times! It's really cheap and the food is the best we have had in Vietnam. They also support an orphanage so it's for a good cause!
We decided to go on a day boat tour which we booked through our hotel. It was $6 each so we wasn't sure what to expect as it was so cheap. We got picked up at half 8 and drove around on a mini-bus to pick up all the other tourists. There was a group of about 21, there was me and Jaan and 3 Canadians and then the rest were from Vietnam!! The tour guide could speak English but he gave most of the tour in Vietanese. We had a really good day though. The tour guides were really friendly and sooo funny. They were also a band so they sang us a few songs and our tour guide dressed up as a women which he was a bit too convincing so Jaan thinks he was a lady boy! We did some snorkeling which was good as we got to test out our waterproof camera for the first time! They also provided food on board and there was so much of it. I just ate rice and bread though as it was all fish dishes but Jaan enjoyed trying all the different fish although I think they were a bit to raw for him! Luckily I had taken a tube of pringles as I knew it was a fish lunch. We also went on a jet-ski and for me this was my first time and I loved it!! Jaan drove first we me on the back and I didn't feel completely safe! haha! I drove also and loved it! Will definitely be doing that again in oz. They had a floating bar in the sea which was basically a young lad on a large rubber ring and gave out free wine which was not good!! It tasted and smelt like Whiskey. We were taken to 4 islands in total and had a really good day, the weather was gorgeous as well!
Whilst on the boat tour we bumped into a couple of people we met in Hoi An and arranged to meet up later that night for food at Lantern. There was about 12 of us all together and after a gorgeous meal we headed out to a bar. It was happy hour at the bar and they were selling buckets for 30,000 which is 97p. They consisted of Vodka, Rum, Orange, Pineapple and Red Bull. We played a few drinking games which Jaan kept losing so was getting drunk fast :) We both had a really good night but paid for it the next day. We were extremely rough to say the least!
I had arranged to meet Petra for breakfast at 11am at a cafe and to discuss our plans as we were thinking of heading to Dalat the next day (which was today). We decided to go for a massage later that day as Jaan was still in bed hungover so we arranged to meet later that day for the massage and I went back to see if Jaan had risen yet! Took him some coke to get some sugar in his body and managed to drag him out of bed :) So at half 4 I go and meet Petra and we have an hour and half massage which was amazing! I had guy do mine which to begin with I was like oh great as all you have on is some paper pants and silk dressing gown which they replace with a towel when you lay down but it was completely fine. I don't think I've ever felt so relaxed before!! By the time we got out it was half 6 and I suddenly thought I bet Jaan is worrying where I am as I didn't realise we would be so long. I get back to the hotel and open the door to find Jaan writing a note and looking worried. He gave me the biggest hug and told me he was worried :) The note said "Stay in the room until I get back. I've gone looking for you. I will check the internet place, Petra's hotel and then come back." Stupidly we hadn't really arranged a time I would be back or anything so he was really worried as it was dark. Bless him :)
We decided to stay in Nha Trang 2 more nights as we had a lot of washing to do and didn't want to leave in a rush. So today we decided to spend a while on the internet researching our next destinations and uploading some videos. We leave here tomorrow morning at 8am and head to Dalat which is in the Central Highlands and apparently the temperature is always been 10-20 degrees so its a lot cooler than here which will be nice for a change!! We will spend maybe 3 nights there and visit some of the Hill Tribes there and apparently you can also do elephant riding which I would like to try!
Oh also...I broke my "Chanel" sunglasses and I am gutted :( Will definitely be purchasing some more :)
That's it for now I think!
Until next time :)
