Cuzco! or Qosqo in its native Quechua, the land of the tiny people we believe is the translation. We're definitely on the right track in terms of a cultural experience: narrow streets, pagan monuments, alpacas, 3000 year old buildings. The trip is young but this is our favorite spot so far. Andrea had a local dish today called cerviche, which is raw fish marinated in lemon and other herbs. Speaking of alpacas earlier and how they added to the experience, nathaniel decided he should try one for lunch. The guinea pig is next on the menu... When in Rome. The altitude sickness well and truly set in today for Andrea, queasy, nauseous, faint. So our tour around the city's sights was unfortunately hampered by this; however, a miracle of god cured her of this affliction as we pulled up to the last stop on the tour, the alpaca wool factory. So if anyone needs a cure for altitude sickness, apparently it is 100% pure baby alpaca wool. Fantastic day, thoroughly impressed and can recommend a visit for anyone. Machu picchu awaits us tomorrow

Deborah Lots of new experiences and firsts. All sounds great...Will have to put this place on my "To do" list. Sounds wonderful...all except the Guinea pig (lol)happy travels u two
dad & robyn What was the Alpaca like????
Nathaniel The alpaca was like a mix between pork, lamb and goat. i.e. Cute like a lamb, annoying like a goat so I would imagine would be easy to shoot, and tastes like pork. The guinea pig however, will write more on that later, but needless to say and as expected, Andrea was not impressed with that one... More to follow.
Susanne Glad you felt better Andrea! Wouldn't want to miss the shops! Or stalls! Hope you got me something!!! An alpaca scalfe sounds gorgeous but what r there animal rights laws like? Be careful pay attention to their hoofs as you can see the cuts and wounds from where they chuck rocks at their ankles to keep them in line. Nataniel u should be ashamed of yourself! And G/pig really?
Brooke Ok now that you have left Cuszco I can tell you... the airport (at least when we were there) does not have a control tower so the planes land and take off according to sight and a little bit of radio talk. I was glad I was told AFTER my flight :) Glad you enjoyed the city too :)
