lazy days
Sa Khu, Thailand
The days are passing quite fast now. We've been here almost two weeks already. Still the whitest people on the beach i'd wager.
Today was uneventful. Went to the beach in the morning. Still have the hiccups. Reading "No direction home" a biography on Bob Dylan. Quite interesting. I never fully realized what a Magpie he was. He stole from everyone, even Dominic Behan! Still , i think his real talent at least early on was taking all these disparate influences , everything from Rimbuad to Woody Guthrie to Kurt Weill, to Scots-Irish balladry and fusing it into his own vision.
Anyway, spent the day at the beach and went to Phens again for dinner. Tonight i had this local dish, a shrimp paste with seasonal greens. Spicy and delicious. Then i also had the Pad Thai Kung. Maya had a burger tonight and Jack had fish and chips which was very tasty also.
It's interesting how your desire to get out and explore, travel around wanes once you have been here a week or so. The pace of life is so slow here, all you end up doing is sitting or lying around reading, sleeping, or drinking cool cocktails. It can't last forever though and nor would you want it to.
We discovered today that apparently the whole island is owned by the mafia and they run everything. Hmmmm.
