Today we woke up about 4am to the sound of the heavens opening... It was absolutely chucking it down and I think there must have been a tin roof or something nearby as the rain was all you could hear. We left the hotel about eight thirty ish to catch the train to Ryoguko where the Nihon Sumo Kyokai grand sumo tournament takes place. It wasn't far and despite the rain it wasn't actually cold. The Ryogoku Kokugikan was only about two mins walk from the station.....

Today we had another long lie till ten ish and I woke up feeling a wee bit heady.. Thankfully as the day wore on this lifted and I started to feel almost back to normal. Today we slept in a little till about 9am and then headed out on to the Tokyo streets. We firstly headed on the subway to Shibuya where we went in search of the famous Shibuya crossing. This is the one that is seen in all the movies and is basically a scramble crossing that allows people to cross all four streets at once inundating the entire intersection with people.... 100 thousand every hour. Today we had to get up early to catch the airport bus and unfortunately yesterday's bed day did little to ease my symptoms. I still felt incredibly heady and nauseated... After the euphoria of last night and the wonderful evening we had Laura felt worse this morning. Her sinuses were blocked and getting all the classic symptoms of a bacterial infection. We decided to have a complete rest day today as we both knew Japan is ahead of us and wanted to be on top form.
