Ok, so I left Aberdeen today after spending a week with my friend David. When he dropped me off at the bus station EARLY this morning it hit me that this would be my first week out on my own. No big deal, I can handle it. Admittedly, I was a bit vaclempt. It had been nice traveling with someone so easy to be around and of course, it was comforting. Still - no big deal. The destination of the day was Iona. If you'll look at a map, Iona is about 230 miles away from Aberdeen. You would think it would take one car and 4 hours. But no. I got on a bus at 7AM, took another bus, took a ferry, took another bus and THEN - once I was in the middle of nowhere at 7PM (and it gets dark here at 4pm), the last ferry I was suppose to take was CANCELLED! Yes, the gales were too strong. Awesome. Well, thank goodness for whatever gift it is that I have to insert myself into conversation. I heard the word "church" out of a gentleman's mouth and I thought, I can hang with this conversation . . . I quickly began listening and responding . . . and soon enough I had a room in the bustling town of Fionnphort on the Island of Mull (population 70). Whew. That was a close one!
I may be coming home before Christmas! Hahaha.
