James and Katie's travels
Well hello
All is well in the land of ladyboys and coconut trees. Sos its been a while since ive written anything but have been finding it really hard doing nothing, getting in and out of my hammock was even becoming such a chore i considered sleeping in it as well ;)
So Claire and Wayne have left, they had a great time, i think, and enjoyed a small taste of the whole travelling thing. It was refreshing having yet more people to share the experience with as we moved from beach to beach revisiting our fav places, they even managed a half moon party. It was more refreshing for Katie as she had her sis there ahh, and as Wayne eased the pressure from her to play frisbee, pool etc. Cheers you two, nice having ya both.
We spent the next few days getting back to doing nothing, off the track we went camping on Anthong Marine park, aka the location of 'the beach' novel, a group of 42 uninhabited islands and 1 inhabited. We hitched a ride there for a 1/4 of the price the package boat tour and still happily tucked into there buffet breakfast and lunch ;)
We hopped between alot of the islands by Kyak, watching all those Ray Mears survival progs on sky came in handy as we brought a knife and became sort of self sufficient. Cheers Ray
We were the only foreigners on the whole island with only a few Thai marine staff staying there too, amazing.
Theres def something special about waking up in a tent on a white sandy beach, under a coconut tree to sunrise and the sound of the waves lapping, ummm. Especially as Liverpool had just won the FA cup final :). They pulled a tv out from nowhere and it picked up satalitte tv somehow!! So i rallied up the few islanders last minute for the game and what a game. One of them chose to support West Ham, idiot so i made him sit on his own (must be the other supporter Burf!) Madest place ive watched a game.
Im finding more and more that doing your own thing away from the tourist areas and travel is far more rewarding.
So we're in Bangkok again now on route to Cambodia for a month. We took an overnight train, it was wicked but kinda weird sleeping next to loads of Thai's. At 1st the hustle and bustle was daunting but im enjoying city life again now. Staying in a plush guest house for 1 pound 50 a night and eating at all the food stalls and street restaurants for bout 40-50p a night.
Had a mixed night last night, saw an amazing display of around 5000 people in long boats down the river, spectacular and makes you realise how unadventurous England is. Took a turn for the worse though as i had my first massage by a man!! Sos but its just not the same as by one of the attractive young ladies. He had lovely soft hands though urrrgghh.
Until next time
Love to you all
