Arthur Dobson
This guy was a prominent engineer, surveyor and explorer in NZ during the mid 1800's. He has a town named after him a mountain and a Valley that runs for miles high in the Alps to the South of Mt Cook. He discover a route over the Mountains between the West and East of South Island which is now used by a Panoramic train which runs between Greymouth on the West to Christchurch. This was part of his Journal in the Christchurch Museum and perhaps this is where some of our wanderlust comes from!
