I was picked up early this morning from my Auckland hostel. Luckily the girl I was sharing a room with in my hostel was on the tour with me for the first few days.
Our driver is called 'Salty' a pretty crazy driver, but I hear all the drivers are a bit like that in NZ, so best thing to do is sit back and relax.
1st stop Hahei on the Coromandel Penninsula. It was a windy road to here, with a scenic lookout stop over the beautiful Mercury Bay.
Here we went Kayaking from Hahei beach to Catherdral Cove, the water was so blue and clear.
We then went to Hot Water Beach where people dig holes in the sand and hot water comes up. This is all caused by the thermal activity in the area. We didn't dig a hole, we just borrowed other peoples.
We stayed on a campsite and had a evening kiwi style BBQ of Steak, Sweet Potato.
Great day. The only thing I would say is that the group I am with are not a patch on the group I was with in Oz. Slightly odd bunch, but hey we'll see, may get friendlier!!
