Exciting news! I'm in Greece! I know I've been lacking in the blog updates however I plan to fix this! When Madison and I first arrived (last night) she and I were staying at a backpackers in Athens called 'Athens Backpackers'. Anyhoo, I feel the need to explain our VERY FIRST backpackers experience. Initially Mads and I had planned to stay in a shared dorm of 6 girls (us included). Now, we have never done this before so didn't know the rules or how we should go about it. However we did think we'd make friends and it would all be balanced out... no. There is no way I'm ever doing that ever again. Unless all of the other girls are already my friends. Absoutley the most awkward thing I have ever done in my whole life. What if they drew on our faces while we were sleeping?! And they didn't share plugs (forgetting the fact that I didn't have and adaptor). So, Madison and I made the short walk and slight upgrade to 'Athens Backpackers Studios'. Yes.. fancy I know ;-) WE LOVED IT. Perfect. We now have a two person room with a private bathroom and it's all great standard considering it's supposed to be a backpackers. Yesterday night when we first arrived we dumped our bags in our room and set off for dinner because there is only so far in-flight chocolate crossionts and pringles can take you. To our amazement the resturant we chose decided to not only bring us our bill after our meal but two 'oozo' shots aswell! Like.. this country is crazy! Eventually we made our way back and crashed into our private room backpackers beds :-P This morning we both woke up bright and early (10am) so that we can take a walking tour around the place. It was a day well spent! We saw all the sights and had a local telling us the history and significants of the place. Amazing. There is so much history everywhere you look. Ruins somewhere or a local tradition. This tour took a large portion of our day as it started at 10am and finished at 5pm. Oh well! We spent the night walking around and enjoing all the delicious bread Greece has! It's amazing!! We're off to Corfu tomorrow which I am SO excited for! Just a short flight to relaxation and paradise ;-) xxx
