So having survived some very interesting hotels recently I ave been rewarded with a 4 star one in Sucre. This city is nothing like the rest of Bolivia... clean, pretty and things seem to work!
The salt flats were amazing, sadly i did surcome to a bout of stomach issues while out there.... not ideal in the middle of nowhere being bounced around in 4x4s, but luckily immodium did me a treat and i survived!
have lots of amusing photos from the salt flats however computers over here seem almost unable to upload any form of photos to the internet unless you have a good 4 hours.....
Spent 3 days out in the salt flats, the first night was spent in a hotel built out of salt, tables, chairs, beds, you name it! Second day was heading almost to the the chilean border and visiting some volcanoes and general nothingness. the last day one of the cars was strugging, so we headed home early and then off to some rather interesting "hot springs". as a group we are beginning to think that we have some curse... all forms of transport that we get into break down, boats in Peru, cars, taxis, public buses you name it... even when the authorities notice the illegal nature of the cars, nothing a bit of bribing the local soldiers in bolivia doesnt fix, 10p and a 2l botlle of coke... bargain!
its really is amazing the contrast in 2 countries that boarder each other and how different they both can be... money is definately a powerful thingand now the main source of income from the bolivian government has been stopped by the americans (supposedly) there is a massive difference between the rich and the poor... that includes cities!
Am only allowed one more night here, for my fake birthday as I will not be spending it with this lot, an then the joy of the 14 hour night bus back to La Paz... thats assuming, we dont stop for a couple of hours picking up locals to sit in the aisles, break down or pick up takeaways for the drivers... only time will tell!
