The first port of call of the road trip! We picked up our little car in Christchurch (little smaller than a Yaris, automatic - seriously, why don't I have an automatic? It's a go-kart!!) Mike negotiated the roads out of the city centre, with only one or two reminders that over here you drive on the left.
Had a nice few hours travel back down south, passing a few points that we'd stopped off at on the way up. Before arriving in Bluff. To say there is nothing here would be an understatement... But we did see a display in the museum in Christchurch - dedicated to the Paua shell (sp) apparently Maud and Claud (or something similar) used to live here and decorated their home with these gawd awful technicolour shells. Sadly, they have since passed, and their house moved to a museum to attract ridicule from a wider audience. Yes, the most interesting thing I can think to say is about something that is no longer here.
Needless to say, we carried on and spent the night in Invercargille. Ipod player thing purchased to make the journey more enjoyable. Pizza consumed. All good.
