We arrived in Mexico keen to do some sunbathing and get stuck into some Mexican food. After an extremely long wait to get ours bags (due to flights from Panama to Mexico being a well known drugs route). We finally got to Playa del Carmen and walked to our hotel only to be told our room wasn't available and we were being moved hotels. After our initial annoyance we found the new hotel was in a better location and the room a slight upgrade so we were satisfied.
On Christmas eve we hit the beach (and the cocktails) during the day and then went off shopping for Xmas gifts in the evening. We set ourselves a $20 limit which proved challenging, especially as only small items could be bought if we wanted to keep them. Helen had been threatening to get me tequila with a worm in the bottom and unfortunately she came through on this promise...
On Christmas day we decided to cook ourselves a traditional breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs washed down with a bit of bubbly. After a quick catch up with family via the wonderful means of FaceTime we headed to the beach for some non-traditional sun bathing. We rounded the day off with some seafood to complete a lovely if somewhat different Christmas.
Unfortunately the seafood didn't agree with us and boxing day was a bit of a right off with Helen increasing her lead in the vomiting stakes..
We spent our last few days, as we had our first, enjoying the sun and food. It was good to spend a few days relaxing and not carrying our bags.
Next we head onto the States for our road trip.

Neil Sorry to hear about some of the "upsets". Have a good time in the USA. Try the Outback chain for 14 oz ribeyes. Allthe very, very best for 2013 and Happy Birthday to Tom
