We arrived in Delhi about 2 days ago, yesterday we spent looking around the Delhi sites, and today we saw the Taj Mahal and Forte in the town of Agra, 200kms south of Delhi. I cannot even begin to tell you the frustration we have had trying to get to India. In short, the ticket given to us by our travel agent, was damaged, and was missing the coupon that we needed to travel from Bangkok to Delhi (via Hong Kong). Because of this, Cathay Pacific would not allow us to board, and we missed our scheduled flights. We ended up being able to find a flight that night with thai airways to delhi, so bought those tickets so that we were able to keep our schedule of plans. It was a bit of a dissapointment to be refused our flights, as you can imagine we are a bit bitter with out travel agent. Hopefully we can get the money out of them that we have had to spend to get here. Anyway, back to bigger and brighter things, the Taj Mahal is amazing!!!! We had a very experienced tour guide today who spent about 2 hours taking us over the Taj. It took 2000 blokes 22 years to build it. A marvellous feat for what it is. India is very much a culture shock to both of us, but we are getting into the swing of it. Tomorrow we are going to Jaipur and spending 2 nights there before returning to Delhi to fly to Bangalore on Thursday. I don't have much time to write this so will write again when i have more time. Everyone seems to be trying to make a buck out of us, but the advice we were given from friends before we arrived to "forget everything you know and take for granted in western culture". That advice certainly helped ease the shell shock of Delhi. Heath
