Ok........ok......finally it's here!!
Arrived in Koh Chang after a 12 hour flight followed by a 5 hour bus journey and a night in the Ferry town of Trat. Got a ferry the next morning across to Koh Chang island and got picked up on a moped by Henry. Once back at the little room called home we headed for a walk on the beach. Slight change from Scandinavia I know and man did I feel like a beached albino whale!! Everyone had either been there awhile or had come from somewhere just as warm!!
Our time in Koh Chang was relatively quiet with some relaxing on the beach, some driving around while Henry showed me the Island (on the every trustworthy moped). Nobody wears helmets there, they don't go fast enough as its all windy roads (sorry mum!! )
Also did some diving with the guys Henry's just been training with. Was nice to be on the sea again!
However, the main thing for me was the elephant trek!! (You'll have to excuse me as my pictures are playing up so the photos of this will have to wait.) We went on an hours trek on elephants around part of the Island which was both beautiful and serene and ON ELEPHANTS!!!!!
I'm not sure I can stress it anymore. I RODE ON AN ELEPHANT!! Ok, I'll stop now. Anyway we came back from the hour trek and went down for a swim for which 2 elephants joined us and happily lay in the water while we brushed them down with thick scouring brushes. Then, lucky me, gets to ride back to the yard on the elephant again!! My new name from now on is Jungle Jill. (You think I could get that through Equity??) It was so awesome. I reckon next time (and there will be one) I'll do a trek for a few days.
We also had Henry's divemaster party. A celebration for both him and another girl, Charlotte, once they'd finished their divemaster training. This was a little messy as they had to do what was called 'The Snorkel Test' which basically means they had to drink approx. 2 pints of Samm song and coke (local rum) through a snorkel (with the mask on to so they couldn't breathe through their noses). Apparently this is a tradition at this dive school for divemasters. It gets worse for instructors when they pass!!
Needless to say Henry was drunk by the last mouthful and spent the rest of the night grinning from ear to ear.
All good fun. And thats Koh Chang really. Onwards to our little detour to Cambodia
