Chu Chi Tunnels from Ho Chi Minh
We missed the daily trip which starts at 8.30am in the morning and is a bargain for 5$ so we took the local bus for 2 hours but when we got off we were still 25Kms away! We got totally ripped off by a motorbike driver who made us pay him 8 quid to go there and back. We both got on the back of the moped and went to the tunnels. The tunnels were very interesting it told us how the Vietnamese dug them to hide from the US soldiers underground. They laid all sorts of traps and the tunnels were tiny. We went in one and it was very scary and claustrophobic. Unfortunately we arrived just in time for the 30 German Students so it was hard listening to the guide and seeing what was going on behind the huge group. Mike paid 10 quid to shoot an AK47 10 bullets. It was sooooooooo loud! The moped driver was happily waiting for us when we came out 2 hours later. With a smile on his patient face we headed back to the bus station. We had to cut a few corners, go down some back alleys and actually jump off the bike behind a house at one point as it must be illegal to give 2 foreigners a lift on the bike for money. Bit typical really when you see a whole family on the back of a bike plus baggage! 4 is the norm over here for people on a bike.
