Wow! As we rounded a mountain bend on the bus from El Calafate to the Perito Moreno Glacier, the first sighting of the glacier was amazing. Travelling through predominantly green countryside, this rapidly changes with the white expanse of the glacier and the surrounding snowy mountains. After stumbling off our night bus, had a 2 hour wait at Rio Gallegos bus terminal, which we spent chatting to a Danish pair. 4 hour bus to El Calafate through beautiful countryside with magnificent mountains and bright blue lakes, all the while keeping our eyes peeled for wildlife including the ostrich type birds, Andean deer, various birds of prey and Patagonian hares. After another breakfast of cake, cake and more cake at our hostel, spent a couple of hours booking hostels for down south, then trudged to the bus terminal. Overnight bus to Rio Gallegos left 2 hours late. Had to endure the drivers Argentinian rock music being played loudly for most of the journey, disrupting our entertainment/sleep. However the huge sun setting over the extremely flat plains was quite something.

Collected from our hostel and driven south down the coast to Puerto Rawson / Punta Delfin. Lifejackets on we jumped on a glorified dinghy and made our way through some fishing trawlers chasing some playful seals for their photographs (whilst being laughed at by the fisherman). Out at sea enjoyed watching many 'mini-orca' (black and white) dolphins play in the waves created by our boat. Also rob brought the boat's attention to a southern right whale. Next stop Pun...
