Hi All,
Quick blog tonight - we're on limited internet where we're staying (hotel is crap and is chargng £5 for 2 hours!) and we're knackered.
Yesterday we travelled to Auckland to our hotel. (http://www.mercure.com/gb/hotel-1721-mercure-auckland/index.shtml) Highlight of the coach trip was the driver being pulled over for speeding! In the afternoon, we met Linda and Grant (some Kiwi friends) for a coffee, and had a great time catching up :-) Spent most of the evening having a wander around the shops etc. before eating in a cool buffet style restaurant, where we ate way too much food. I think we both had a starter, 2 different mains, and then had to try all the different desserts including help yourself Mr Whippy icecream! We had a reasonably early night before our 7 am start today.
The hotel also wanted to charge $28 each for brekkie - thats nearly £30 for both of us, so last night while wondering around we decided to buy some cereal and milk in a little supermarket. This alone cost us £6!!! (Its certainly not cheap here in Auckland). However when we got back to the hotel we remembered the minor point that we had no cereal bowls or spoons. Fortunately there were some glasses and some teaspoons in our room so we ate our cereal using them! LOL!
Then another coach trip up north to bay of islands (http://www.greatsights.co.nz/bay-of-islands/swim-with-the-dolphins/) where we went on a boat and saw loads of dolphins. Sadly couldn't swim with them as they all had baby dolphins (mega cute! awwwwwww) but also saw rays, penguins, and some Ganets (they're huge). Got back to Auckland approx 8:30pm to find the hotel hadn't booked a table for us in their restaurant... long story short we finally ate at nearly 10pm. Just as we had finished eating the fire alarm went off and we had to walk down 26 flights of stairs to get to the lobby! There were 5 fire engines outside and the alarm was signalling a fire near our room - scary moment but turns out there wasn't a fire at all. Phew!
Tomorrow doing Bush and city tour, (http://www.bushandbeach.co.nz/bb_home.html) then have booked a table in a restauarnt in the sky tower (http://www.skycityauckland.co.nz/Restaurants/The-Observatory.html) to celebrate the last day of our NZ experience.
Sorry there wont be a blog tomorrow as its too expensove to pay again, and also we probably wont have time as we've got a lot to pack in as normal.
Another thing, whether we have internet or not, we aren't going to update in Fiji. That is total chill out time for us both, and as much as we have loved updating, we need to save something to tell you guys about when we get back! :-P
So, thats it for from us we're afraid. We truly have had a magical time in NZ and it has made us realise even more it would be a great place to live. We hope youve enjoyed following our adventures on this blog and look forward to catching up with you all on our return. Hopefully the snow whould have gone by then?!!
Love to you all x x x x x x x
