We took the 4WD track to Birthday Pool where John McDougall Stuart found his way through the West Macdonnells. Our second venture was to Hugh Gorge. All of this took rather longer than we anticipated so we were quite late arriving at Stanley Chasm. See photo albums

On Monday 19th June we left Alice to have a look at the West MacDonnell ranges. We had heard the Gorges were full of water due to the recent heavy rains so off we went to investigate and see for ourselves. After we visited simpsons Gap we free camped on the still dry Hugh River

Sunday took us to the old Telegraph station. The guided tour was excellent - informative and humourous especially about the history of the building of the overland telegraph line from Adelaide to Darwin. By sheer good luck the Todd was flowing. See above.
