Can you go shoulder season instead?As for flights, start by looking at which airlines fly into and out of both your home airport and the airport you want to fly into, and don't forget to check nearby airports. Hopefully you will find one of the airlines that have a hub in one or both of the airports.An example for me is that Southwest flies out of Portland and if I want to go to Florida, it is WAY cheaper for me to fly into Orlando than into Miami, because Orlando is a Southwest hub city.How do you know what is a hub city? Check their route maps, if they have a lot of flights going into a city, that is a hub for them. Almost all airlines will have their route maps on their websites.Hotels? My favorite site is hotels.com, but I will use several searches before I book a room.
