Woke up to gorgeous sunshine so I went down to the beach. Unfortunately I feel asleep and burnt my back!!! That evening we went to the hostel bar for a few drinks and Karen Stovell from Burgess Hill walked in. How random, she wasn't even staying at our hostel!!
Had a really good night catching up with her and having afew drinks and dance at Salty's. We behaved ourselves though and went home about 12pm as we were doing a day tour leaving at 7am the following morning.
Fri 2nd Feb -
Got the bus bright and early, met areally nice girl from Bristol called Kate. Our 1st stop was a Kaura tree forest. The trees are huge. We then went up to Cape Reinga which is the most Northern part of NZ, they call it the meeting of the two seas as it is where the Tasman and Pacific meet.
The Cape is also one of the most spiritual places in Maori culture as they believe that when they die their spirit goes on a journey which ends at the Cape where it passes from this world to the afterlife.
After here we stopped at the beach to have lunch then headed up to the sand dunes to do some sandboarding. It was really good fun but very hard work getting to the top before being able to come down again. I ony had one go because I had a bit of an embarrasing mishap with my top so didn't fancy showing everyone my boobs more than once!!!
After here we drove down the 90 mile beach then stopped at a really pretty fishing village and had fish and chips for dinner.
Sat 3rd Feb -
We had a really nice day, went for a walk round the town, had lunch chilled on the beach and in the sea. That evening we met Kate and her friends in Salty's where we danced and chatted with people then Me, Kate and some others from the hostel went down to the lighthouse (club) for some more dancing. Had a really good night.
We had to check out at 10am but our bus back to Auckland wasn't leaving until 4pm ao we just chilled out at the hostel and the beach.
We didn't get back to Auckland untill about 8pm so me and Kat just went and had dinner then went to the spa. It was really nice as we had a view of the City all lit up at night, like the pic.
