We had a few days to spare in Bangkok while we waited for our Vietnam visa so we ended up getting a Thai massage, and sneaking into a hotel to use their swimming pool as we were bored with sightseeing in Bangkok!
Eventually we got out on a bus to Cambodia. However the whole trip turned out to be a bit of a nightmare!! WE stopped just before the border at a restaurant as they always do to get you to spend money and the man there was trying to get us to pay for our visas there instead of at the border. There were trying to charge us twicce as much and in Thai Baht not US dollars and they were trying to say i needed two passport pics when id been told befopre i only needed one so we followed these Canadian boys we met and went to the border with them and subsequently annoyed the man at the restaurant!! at the border we got through pretty quickly and for 20 dollars and made our bus on the other side.
The jouney to Siem Reap was bumpy and on a horrible bus with no air con but it was ok. WHen we got to Siem Reap, they dropped us off at this derelict park with loads of tuk tuk drivers around.. A lot of people on our bus were getting very annoyed at this point. We got the tuk tuk for free but on the way they stopped to ask us about going to Angkor Wat the day after and paying them for it!!!!-SCAM! We ended up staying at ANgelina Jolies hostel in CAmbodia.
The next day we moved to a different hotel with a pool and jacuzzi-honestly we are budget travellers!! it was 20 dollars between us!
Then we went to Angkor Wat to see the sunset, and buy our pass for the next couple of days.
The next day we walked round loads and saw loads of temples!! wew were a bit sick of it by lunch so we went back to the hostel for a swim, but we did get to see where Tomb raider was filmed and Indiana Jones, but we didnt have a guide so one temple kind of looked like the other temples!
The next day we started later so we could stay for sunset which was better than the sunset we saw- or didn't see before. We were definately ready to leave SIem Reap though, because of the hassle you got at ANgkor Wat from kids trying to sell you stuff, i caved in once buying some postcards- so i apologise for the quality of the postcards if you got one!!
