On the 7th Sept I said bye to Carrie and her parents and West Palm Beach then hopped on the bus to Orlando. 3.5 hours next smelly man is not a very pleasant experience and I don't wish it on any of you.
Once there I go in a taxi which came to $70 to get to Disney. He was a cool Jamaican guy with pumpin reggae tunes but I almost cried having to hand over that much money. Especially considering the fare started at $38 and finished at eighty something and he had no problem bargaining down... I think I got scammed. Oh well.
Met up with Claire and our hotel room was suh-weet! A telly!! and the towels were arranged in a mickey mouse head shape on the beds! hehe
8th: went to the Animal Kingdom park. soo cool! fun rides, animals everywhere, so much scenery it was amazing! Had salmon for dinne (!!!) then we went to watch the Fantasmic show at Disney's Hollywood studios. They had water projectors, as in they projected stuff onto a water screen!
9th: Epcot Park:space shuttle simulator,, test track (you're in a car and it does tests like breaking suddenly, going over bumps, that kind of thing, so sort of like a rollercoaster), 3d show (at the end a giant dog sneezed and you got sprayed with water, gross!), Soarin' (paragliding simulation). Then we walked for ages to a grocery store to get food so we didn't have to keep spending $30 a day on meals.
10th: Blizzard beach water park for the first half the day. There were heaps of cool tubes, toboggans and no-equipment slides. Sooo much fun. Then we felt the side of Hurricane Ike as a storm came out of no-where to ruin the day. AFter a little while we neaded to Animal Kingdom again and did the safari which was amazing!! saw real hippos, giraffes, elephants, lions, tigers, WOW it was awesome.
11th: Went to the Magic Kingdom. lots of cool rides and gift shops and stuff.
12th: Typhoon Lagoon water park, sooo fun! There was a wave pool which created 6 ft waves every so often, and they had a water coaster (WOAH) and we went swimming with sharks! Well... we snorkelled at the top and they swam around the bottom... but it was awesome! then we went to Downtown Disney and did some shopping and went to the virtual fun place.. we did virtual paddle boating (still got wet though :P), light sabre quest and more.
13th: went to Disney's Hollywood Studios. This is where they hid the scary rides! First was the areosmith Rock n Rollercoaster.... SOOO good! Then the twilight Tower of Terror. You're in an elevator that goes up and down, at random! so you don't know what to expect! our favourite ride!!
We also met Prince Caspian (so cute!!) and watched an Indiana Jones Stunt show. Then headed back to our hotel room to pack our bags (sigh!!) took ages to get to sleep, had so many thoughts! (unusual, right? )
14th Sept: Flew from Orlando to New York, was there for a bit (ask if I could get a complimentary upgrade but no.... ) Then got aboard my flight to London! Although the flight itself was terrible and I couldn't sleep and everything, the company was awesome! I sat next to a 40 y.o Scottish couple who were SO lovely! They were in New York for their 10 year anniversary (aaaw) and I started talking to them cos I noticed their accents as they were sitting down and asked if they were Scottish and they loved me because most people think they're Irish. The man (Dale) actually knew like everything about Australia, even each State Capital City! They were so funny. Anyway, they were fascinated by my travels how young I was so they invited me to stay with them even before I said I love kids and could babysit their 5y.o daughter and 10 y.o daughter (who is a swimmer! and named Rachel! And almost named Hannah!)
So I arrived into Heathrow airport around 7.30 am London time, therefore 2.30am body clock time (sigh) and I managed to get the cute customs guy (yay!! no...) he interrogated me like there was no tomorrow and he confused me and it was really quite horrible, EVEN though he was like model gorgeous. Kept asking me where I was going (doing a bit of backpacking and doing a tour through Europe) how long's the tour, what company bla bla bla, then he goes 'where are you going after the UK?' and here's me thinking that he means after my UK adventures in Nov/ Dec, and so I say obediently 'Thailand (oh hot boy marry me, nah jokes)' and he's like 'no, where after the UK? Which country' what he actually means is what is my first country on the tour... SIGH then he starts inquiring about Thailand cos mentioning that just opened another can or worms, wanted to see my tickets bla bla... so it was really horrible!
Especially consiering the US border security people shunned me completely so I had no preparation for this! Must have seemed like a blithering idiot! (now there's my English expression for the day :P)
Then met up with Auntie Lyn!! We went back to her house which really isn't far away at all, I talked the whole way home with the occasional breath of air...
and any minute now my cousins will get back from school so I'd best be off!!
Lots of love, Han
p.s. just had a quick nap and the bed is amazing!!! Wasn't so quick after all :P
