Han & Dan
Sunny Shinokville, our first beach of many!!!! I would firstly like to piont out that it is I, yes Dan. I finally thought that it was about time I pulled my finger out to write a postcard & give the poor girl a rest. Well I am. And yes, Hannah is having a well earned rest, she is actually having her hair straightend (basically lads, this means it will now only take her 1 hour to get ready instead of the 2 or 3 it normally takes, so everyone is a winner!). Appaerntly it is going to take around 4 hours for this process, so I have plenty of time to kill, hence why I am writing this. Anyway, back to Shinokville. We arrived at about 1pm on a glorious sunny day & were welcomed by the sight of the sea. Yes the first we have seen off it since we set sail on our journey some 3 (& a bit) months ago. Boy oh boy was the water warm!!!! You were warmer in the sea than out of the sea, so that was a very welcome surprise. Shinokville was quite a small city/town. We stopped out of the centre of town as we just wanted a few days out of the hustle & bustle. There was just basically 1 street where all the bars & restaurants were, so that was a little different. On our first night we went out for a bite to eat & a few drinks & on our return to our room we found.....I am not kidding you..... the biggest Gecko (a small lizard) in the world!!!! We have evidence as well, please see the photos. We were trying to get this......monster out of our room for about 45 mins when the owner knocked on our door. We filled him in & he was like "No probs, it is ONLY a gecko"..... then he saw it & even he was scared, I am not saying I was though..... 5 mins later & the owner was back with a wooden malet, he wacked it a few times & stabbed it in the head but it still wouldn't go & then it escaped under our bed. The man said that it would be ok & we should go to bed!!!! Man, is he crazy or what. So after another half an hour I managed to get the little w*** trapped in a peanut M&M packet & out of the room. The poor thing was knackered & we thought he would die as there was blood on his head from where he got stabbed........but don't worry.... the little s*** was out side our room again the following night!!!!!!! So, after this little episode, we continued our nice 4-5 days of relaxation on the beach & then headed back to Phnom Penh to catch the bus in to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam......
