One night in Lake Tekapo was enough to see the very small town and church of the good shepard. The town is on the shore of a lovely lake with views of Mount Cook in the background. Decided to get closer to Mount Cook on wednesday but it was chucking it down with rain and by the time we got to the very nice hotel near its base we couldn't see the mountain for the fog and rain! So we had a coffee and drove on to Christchurch.
In Christchurch we stayed in our first womens only hostel because it was cheap! To be fair the people there were lovely and there was loads of free extra which were cool but the owner was slightly intense and it just wasn't the same without lads! Christchurch is suppossed to be like Cambridge and i can see where they get that from as there is a River Avon, big cathedral but there is a real mix of architectural styles so its more international than cambridge.
Went to New Brighton beach which wasn't that nice and the weather was rubbish so we went shopping instead!
On friday we drove to Kaikora and went horseriding at the base of Mount Fyfe and had dinner at a roadside BBQ. Had crayfish and garlic muscles mmmmm.
