Yesterday we arrived in Yellowstone! We drove to the Old Faithful area and enjoyed some ice cream on the Old Faithful Inn while waiting and them seeing Old Faithful erupt. We then saw that another geyser, Daisy, was scheduled to have erupted a half an hour ago, +/- 1/2 hour so we headed that way. When we arrived, people had been waiting for an hour to see it so we stuck around. We ended up waiting for an additional half an hour before it went. Daisy has an average height of 75 feet but I don't think it was that high. It was fun though. As we continued around the geyser basin, we were just to Grand Geyser when it started going off. Definitely the most impressive geyser I've seen! It shoots up in huge spurts up to 200 feet and lasted about 10 min. Really cool to see!!! And it's predictable to a 4-hour period so we got really lucky seeing it.
We continued our drive and parked at the end of the Fountain Flat Drive. Hopped on our bikes and biked the 5.5 mile trail to Grand Prismatic, then back along the road and down the Firehole Lake Drive and eventually completing the loop to the car. It was so nice to get away from all the 2-legged creatures roaming the Old Faithful area. The scenery is spectacular.
We eventually drove to our campsite at Madison and after a fire and some fireball we crashed. Great day, but not much wildlife spotted. Only saw a couple elk. I'm hoping for a herd of bison today!
