Back in London tonight, much in need of sleep! The past two days have been a bit of a jumble of chilling, yoga, surfing, packing and travelling.
Silly moment yesterday afternoon! Laura and I decided to be organised and get some washing done (by hand), this meant finding the means to dry our clothes. The rain had cleared away by this point so we hung the clothes around the windows and opened them up for the sun and wind to work their magic. Laura cleverly removed her clothes from the window and closed said window before yoga... I did not. It's really difficult to try and lie in silence, motionless and thought free when you know oh so well that the rain that is now hammering down is most likely drenching your newly washed and friend clothes! After a speedy exit from the shala I entered our room to not only find I could ring out enough water to fill a small swimming pool from my clothes... But also my bed was soaked! It's ok though, our room has a big double bed that we were too polite to deprive the other person of. My bed being far too damp to comfortably sleep in ... I spend the night in the rather comfortable and sizeable bed... Plenty of room to star fish. This must of been my plan all along mwahahaha.
Today our attempt to surf was demonised by pounding cross current waves which were very unforgiving! We called it a day early and decided to go on a road trip up the coast to see some of the world class surf spots including a beach where the famous Bethany Hamilton surfs. ( Inspirational surfer left one armed after a shark attack ... Should surfer). A coffee was then in order so we stopped at Tagazout for coffee and a naughty plate of chips!
Upon heading back the the villa we had just enough time for cake, frantic Facebook friend adding and a shower before our transfer arrived! Security here is something else! A crowd of people, seemingly just stood still all wondering what to do. It took nearly 2 hours for us 5 gatwick bound travellers to get through. The plane ride was ok, I had a crying baby to the left and also a guy who seemed determined to sleep on my shoulder but we got here safely :)
As the our week at surf maroc came to an end, I reflected over the past week (yup that's the yogic talk coming out) I have enjoyed my time here although perhaps the surfing more than the yoga. If I were to do this again as a stand alone holiday I think I would have relaxed into it a lot more, but as it is, it is only one stop on our trip.
I've met some lovely people here and would love to come back to morocco and experience some more of their culture and amazing food!
Mother's Day tomorrow so hope to speak to my mum before heading up to Heathrow and off to Bangkok, Thailand via Dubai.
A la perchoine x
