Today has been absolutely glorious.We went to Borgese this morning for a little over an hour, so that was nice.We had planned to do another walking tour of roman churches, but it got cancelled.President Bush is in Rome this week for a G8 meeting (I think) so parts of the city have been shut down.Our walking tour was cancelled because it was not safe for a group of 50 Americans to walk around the city when anti-American protests were going on.There were 3 big prot...

Today we spent the morning at the Vatican.We got a tour guided by the sweetest old lady.The tour guides here are sooo knowledgeable.I feel like you would have to get a degree in order to be a tour guide.She knew so much information.She led us all through the Vatican museum and then we went to St. Peter's Basilica on our own.They were both beautiful.It seems so strange to me that that little area is it's own little unit.I wish we had more time to see a little bit ...

This morning we went on a walking tour of the city.We saw the Colosseum and the Roman Forum.They were both really interesting. The Forum was really difficult for me to understand because it is basically all ruin.I found it very hard to imagine what the buildings would have looked like in their prime.I would have really liked to see some digitally remade pictures of what it would have looked like.I think that would have helped me to put all of it into a better per...

Today was a travel day, enough said.We traveled from Florence to Rome, which was a surprisingly short trip.We stopped at a little town on a cliff.It was neat.That night we had our welcome dinner at the hotel and it was great!After that we had "game night", which is one of my all time favorite things to do!We played catchphrase (until the batteries died), mofia, and signs.They were wonderful!!It was nice to have a relaxing but crazy fun night in!
