Happy birthday to our eldest son Stephen, we hope it is a good one. After leaving Siena, we rode cross country to Pesaro. After arriving on time in Livorno we were soon on the bike and out of there. Livorno is a large industrial city and held no attraction for us. Our destination was the far more inviting Siena about a 90 minute ride away. We left Olbia at 8am to ride the 60 km to our ferry in Santa Teresa Gullura. The ride was a lovely start to the day with the sun shining and the roads climbing over the hills before descending to the coast. Sardinia has been great but it is time to move on. We watched the ferry pull in to the port and unload. We were first to ride on and soon we were on our way. The trip was only 50 minutes and nice and smooth. We arrived in Cagliari a little late at 8am after a smooth crossing from Palermo. We had dinner on board with Terry and Cheryl. Cheryl has a good grasp of Italian and she put us straight on how to pronounce Cagliari. The ‘g’ is not really pronounced and you need to use the same sound as in ‘onion’, consequently, we have started substituting Onion for Cagliari whenever we say it.
