Military Tattoo The pipe and drums of the Black Watch, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland The Black Watch is a light infantry battalion that forms one of the seven battalions within The Royal regiment of Scotland (known as 3 SCOTS) Based at Fort George near Inverness, the Battalion is currently a significant element of 19 Light Brigade and has recently successfully completed a deployment in the Nad-e-Ali district of Helmand Province as part of 20 Armoured Brigade. This was the Battalion’s second tour of Afghanistan; the first was in 2009 when they were deployed in an air assault role based at Kandahar.
