Our time in Italy is almost up. We spent a week in Naples and the Amalfi coast and we have just spent the last 5 days in Rome. Every corner you walk around in Rome you literally run into more Roman ruins so we have been busy exploring the city. We saw the Colosseum which you can imagine was spectacular then we also went to the Vatican and St Peters Basilicar which is amazing. The Basilicar is huge and decked out in loads of marble, gold and plenty of statues. Very impressive. Trent ridded himself of all his sins by going to confession while i visited the famous Sistine Chapel. Again this was also very impressive. Michelangelo was a very talented man. The Trevi Fountain was also really cool. It was a shame we couldnt jump in it though cause it was soooo hot but i guess it wouldnt be that nice if everyone swam in it!
Other than that we have been hanging in Rome roaming the street. We hit the Spanish steps last night with a bunch of people from our hostel and so cheap Italian wine which made for a good night. Some local buskers kept the music playing and the Indian community kept the beer supply coming till the wee hours of the morning.
Rome certainly isnt as clean as i thought it would be. There is a lot of rubbish around and plenty of beggars. The city could do with a big clean. And as for the food - I do a better lasagna than what i have eaten here. Their pastas are very plain as are their pizzas but they arent that bad. We are very fortunate that our hostel has free dinner (albeit it being macaroni and cheese every night) because it is sooo expensive over here. Almost all our budget is gone by the time we have paid for our days rent. But we are surviving.
Tomorrow we fly to Spain and in a few days we will meet up with Trents aunty who will travel with us for the next 5 weeks.
Ciao for now.
