Melbourne
After spending some time in the outback me and Chloe flew to Melbourne where I got such a surprise. After speaking to Holly a couple of times over the last few weeks she said she was staying in Perth for Xmas and that her and Oli had a house for a while. Then Oli phoned me a week later asking me for my address as Holly wanted to send me a Xmas card. Unknown to me, they were both in Melbourne and were trying to surprise me! I was so shocked at how good they were at lying to me! They had kept up their story for at least three weeks, so I think everyoneshould be a little bit suspicious of them from now on! I still can't believe how well they tricked me! Anyway, we all got together for dinner, along with one of Chloe's friends from home, and thenheaded for Neighbours night! We arrived 2 hours late, so by the time we got there everyone was completely wasted and the entire bar was packed out, but we hadn't missed anything! The characters soon came out but I didn't really recognize many of them because they were all new! The highlight of the night was definitely Dylans boy-band dance impression, which was pretty impressive and cool because I actually knew who he was! Also, Paul Robinson came on stage and played a set with his band. He is such a legend; real old-school neighbours!
The next few days we kept meeting up with Holly and Oli in the city. We managed to lose a bit of money on the casino on the roulette tables, but it was all in good fun, and went to the cinema to see Australia which was awesome, especially after spending a few days in the outback!
I headed to Frankston forfew days with Chloe to chill out and spend some time at her families house, which was really cool! They had their own swimming pool, boat, and a huge damn in their back garden. Apart from the one afternoon we spent swimming with Chloe's little cousin, our time was occupied sat watching films, sunbathing and chilling out on the sofa's; the lack of sleep in the desert had definitely taken its toll! Her family were really nice and made me feel right at home. Her auntie even made us a roast dinner on night; I had forgotten how good real British food can be, it was amazing, and no aunt Bessie's Yorkshire puddings, we had the real thing!
I left Frankston a day early to go and meet up with Holly and Oli and stay at the house they were looking after! We had dinner together, sat watching some weird film we had never heard of and spent the night chatting, It was so nice and reminded me of Uni L.
We went shopping again in Melbourne the next day and then I had to say my goodbyes!
Melbourne was a really cool city and a lot more quirky than Sydney.I would definitely liked to have spent longer there but because Xmas was approaching there was not much time left! We stayed in St Kilda which was a short tram ride away from the city. On the last night there we went to the cinema again to watch a Christmassy film to get us in the mood for Xmas- it really didn't seem like Xmas as there were no decorations hardly anywhere and the weather was so hot- weird! Although there was one singing tree in the city which played the song from 'Home Alone' and also a choir in the casino, but it still didn't feel right counting down for Xmas!
